In a world where anyone can say anything about your firm on the internet, it can be tedious to track the noise and get a true vibe of what people are saying. There are so many sites on the web where comments can be left, articles can be published, blogs can be read, etc. that it’s hard to keep track of it all. With all the buzz swirling around online, it is important to use a variety of tracking sources to “hear” what people are saying. There are lots of options out there for tracking buzz like Addict-O-Matic, Radian6, Google Alerts, and many others. These sites and tools essentially pull from different websites and give you a condensed version of where your company name appears on the web. A search for “Greenfield/Belser” on a couple different tracking sites produced some results we knew would be there, i.e. our latest blog post and some job postings, but also showed us who is mentioning our name in their blogs and where we are coming up in the news.

Taking it one step further, knowing what people are saying about your own firm is important, but being aware of  what is being said about your competitors should also be a priority. Are they getting more press than you? Are they mentioned in blogs more frequently than you? Are they in a media space that you aren’t but need to be?

No matter what buzz tracking source you use, make sure you are aware of what people are saying about your firm. It’s always best to stay on top of the noise and take full advantage of the buzz!
