Another Use for In-Line Ads
Posted on January 3, 2011 at 11:48 am
Website: Sites that contain in-line ads.
Lessons to be learned: Online ads are everywhere, popping up as you open a new window, appearing on sidebars of websites and more recently, showing up as you scroll over certain phrases on websites. For example, Gourmet.LovetoKnow.com displays in-line ads throughout their recipes. As the user scrolls over “bake” in the recipe instructions, an ad for a restaurant or product pops up. Annoying or useful? That was the debate in our office. However, it was concluded that a rich media variation of these in-line ads would be fantastic on a law firm’s website. Think of a user landing on your antitrust practice page and wondering what makes your antitrust group different from every other law firm’s antitrust group. As the user scrolls over “antitrust” in the heading, a 30-second video could pop open with a member of your firm describing what makes you unique in that particular area. The user doesn’t have to click off the page they were seeking, the video is short and concise and once the user scrolls away, they can view the information on the rest of the page. Makes for a pretty unique way to showcase yourself in a user friendly manner.
