App of the Week: Vidify
Posted on December 20, 2011 at 1:45 pm

Making music videos from your content created on an iPhone is nothing new. iMovie does it best, but all the work required just to make a 45-second video doesn’t always make sense. Vidify has remedied that problem by making it possible for you to take your own footage and photos and turn them into a customized music video. And you can do this in less than a minute!
Vidify works by first allowing you to select any number of videos from your iPhone Photo Library. The best-looking videos comprise 5 clips or more, shot at different depths and angles. Horizontal images work best but vertical images will be resized and cropped to fit seamlessly into the final cut. Next, select your music for the video, choosing from Vidify’s built in royalty-free content or music from your iPod Library. Lastly, just click Vidify and your music video will be created and ready for viewing (and sharing).
Vidify can also be used as a quick business promotion tool. Capture your marketing team at work at the next big event or conference your firm attends. Take photos and videos there. It takes 3 quick steps to post your video on the firm website or to social media pages. All videos can be shared through Email, Facebook, Youtube, or via Airplay to an Apple-equipped television set.
The basic features alone make Vidify worth the $1.99, but there are also custom options that allow you to change the tone of the video to black and white or sepia, make faster clips and longer videos. There is even a custom edits feature that syncs your video to your music clips.
In less than an hour I made over 10 videos. This is the most fun I’ve had with an iPhone App in a long time. The feeling of seeing a finished music video created from your own content is uniquely satisfying. More features are promised soon. Here’s looking forward to all the great holiday videos we will see in the coming weeks.
