    Introducing Art.sy: the Pandora of the art world. The platform, also known as the Art Genome Project, was conceived in 2009 by twenty-something computer science grad, Carter Cleveland. Art.sy’s mission is to “make all of the world’s art accessible to anyone with an Internet connection.” The Art.sy database contains over 15,000 works of art by over 3,000 artists, all of which can be browsed based on keyword, artist, or 800 art-related “genes” by which each piece of artwork is categorized.

    Originally launched at the Techcrunch Disrupt start-up incubator, the site has remained privately funded by a number of well-known Silicon Valley alumni. The impressive list of super angel investors includes Eric Schimdt of Google, Jack Dorsey of Twitter and Square payments, as well as Peter Thiel of PayPal and Facebook. Art.sy is currently in private beta mode, but you can request an invite simply by heading to their homepage.

    Hi Kat,The names of the staffers can be seen when you place your curosr on the image. We selected a few images from those that were submitted. Is there a particular artist you were looking for?
