Site of the Week: Flowing Data
Posted on July 10, 2012 at 4:11 pm
OK, wait, let me try again….
Good data visualizations are cool!
Most will agree presenting data effectively has its share of challenges, and with all the charts, flowcharts, graphics, infographics, tables and data visualizations out there, it’s getting tough to separate the good from the bad from the really bad.
However, we now have some help from Nathan Yau, at Flowingdata.com. He endeavors to highlight what’s good and bad about data and the many ways we can present it. Also nice to note, both digital and analog examples are presented with helpful commentary.
The site provides some basic tutorials on designing charts and on how to selectthe best chart type for optimal presentation effectiveness. The devil is indeed in the details, and Yau offers examples of how to illustrate your data.
There is also companion book, “Visualize This,” labeled a “practical guide to visualization and how to approach real-world data.” Just the thing for the data dork in your life, if not for yourself!
Yes, please, and thank you, Nathan!
