Site of the Week: This is Now!

Ever wish you knew what was going on at the same time in cities across the country? How about across the world? With This is Now, you can see images from “real-time updates from the ever-popular Instagram app that are based on users geo-tag locations. The tool streams photos instantly as soon as they are uploaded on Instagram and captures a city’s movement in a fluid story.” It’s a way to see a city from thousands of different viewpoints.
Think of it as an online version of the local coffee shop bulletin board, where anyone can post pictures they’ve taken locally — except it’s rotating and refreshed with with new images constantly. You can see a picture of the burger someone was eating for lunch in New York City, and at the same time, view a snapshot of someone break-dancing in Tokyo.
This is Now was built by Lexical Group, an Australian creative development firm. Currently, the site features nine cities: LA, New York, Las Vegas, Sao Paulo, London, Stockholm, Paris, Tokyo and Sydney.
