Our close relationship with printers has led us to design any number of promotions on their behalf for printers in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington. High-quality printers always want to strut their stuff and should, but the need for quality is being more carefully considered. Of course, printing is in transition with the common use of the Internet. An astonishing number of printers have not survived; many more will fail.
Printers that accept the Internet as a companion rather than competitor seem to be thriving. The big question for designers and printers and marketers in general in the coming years will be what to put on a traditional offset press, what to print on demand and what not to print at all.
