Education Doesn’t End With Your Degree
For over 15 years, Greenfield Belser has held studio-wide lunchtime educational programs. There’s something new every week: speakers on design and production; financial and business issues; and writing and presentation workshops. Plus clients revealing the inner workings of their businesses and discussions of graphic design, typography, web design, paper, printing, software and other important developments in our field. Our Design and Web Lunches cover design and web-specific topics such as creative strategies, technology and design in specialty areas (e.g., identity, advertising and brochure design).
On-the-Job Training
When you begin working for Greenfield Belser, or when you begin working in a new position at the firm, you receive on-the-job training to help you familiarize yourself with the firm’s operations and systems and to learn what we expect of you in your specific role. Your training will not be formal, but you are certainly encouraged to ask questions about every aspect of your job.
Even when your specific role here is not changing, we encourage you to keep up with new technology, systems and procedures that are becoming an important part of our fast-paced environment. If you are interested in learning more about the firm’s operations and technologies, let us know.
All employees are required to read Greenfield Belser’s “Everything You Wanted to Know About… (Greenfield Belser; Accounting, Marketing, etc.)” binder for your department in its entirety within the first month of employment. You can obtain it from your supervisor your first day, and it is also located on the Greenfield Belser client server in the folder called “Everything You Wanted to Know.” It is a collection of internal forms, processes and checklists intended to provide guidance and familiarize you with how things are done at our firm.
External Training
If your training needs cannot be met internally, you may be asked to get outside training such as job-related seminars or academic courses at our expense. If you want to enhance your career development at Greenfield Belser, you may take advantage of our Tuition Reimbursement Program.
Tuition Reimbursement
We are committed to the development of both basic and advanced skills, therefore, we will pay for 100% of a continuing education course if:
- We believe your education in that area will help the firm
- You take the course at an accredited institution
- You take the course on your own time
- You receive a grade for the course and that grade is C or better or “pass” if the course is given on a pass/fail basis.
But there’s one catch! You must work for us for at least one full year after the completion of your course to get the course for free. For every week you work after the course completion, you will earn a pro-rated credit towards the value of the course. (For example, after six months, your course is half-credited.) Otherwise, the balance of the course fee will be deducted from your final paycheck and/or you will be required to repay the balance to Greenfield Belser.
We will not pay for correspondence courses or for courses if you are on a leave of absence from Greenfield Belser. You must receive our approval for the course prior to your enrollment.
To participate, you must submit a written explanation of the course in advance for Burkey’s signature. Along with your form, submit proof that you paid your tuition (a bursar’s receipt or your canceled check). Finally, you must submit an official transcript of your grade. We will only honor reimbursement requests submitted within six months of completing a course.
